TOBY SALT - SENIOR ADVISOR, EDUCATION
Professor Toby Salt has been a headteacher and then executive headteacher of schools across the phases and sectors. He established the first federation to be executive head of two schools and worked for the Department for Education as director of the Innovation Unit.
He was instrumental in establishing the National College for School Leadership and became the Deputy Chief Executive leading school leadership, the training of 18k leaders annually and establishing programmes such as National Leaders of Education and Teaching Schools. He then became CEO of one of the earliest academy trusts – Ormiston Academies Trust, during which time they doubled in size and improved to have schools good or better. His last CEO role was at AQA, the largest exam board in the UK that produces over 10 million exams annually.
He is a non-executive chair, senior advisor and coach across the education sector. With the MAT community he supports the training of new CEOs. He is chair of a group of schools and The National Teaching Awards.
