Caroline Haines CC - Senior Advisor and Chair, Education Advisory Board
Caroline has been an elected member of the City of London Corporation since 2017, where she recently completed her term as Chair of the Education Board and as a Trustee of the City of London Academy Trust. Following five years as Chair of the London Careers Festival and as Chair of Governors at the Ofsted Outstanding Newham Collegiate Sixth Form College, she now chairs the City of London Natural Environment Board and is Vice Chair of Policy & Resources, the committee that directs the City’s economic development initiatives, its strategic priorities and allocation of resources. She is Deputy Chair of Epping Forest & Commons, Chair of the Suicide Prevention Group and sits on numerous other Corporation committees.
A lifelong educator, having held senior leadership roles in mainstream 16-19 provision, Caroline is a Bridewell Fellow, a governor at King Edward’s School Witley and was Master Educator 2022-3. She sat on the Board of City of London Boys and chaired the recent City Grants Education Spending Review. Committed to social mobility, equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion, she has advised on access to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities (attending Cambridge University herself from a comprehensive school), devising post-16 frameworks, supported the development of skills based and employability curriculum initiatives and enabled educational marketing, media & communication and development projects.
A past GCSE & A-Level examiner and author of A-Level Study Guides she has worked with prisons, the Windsor Fellowship, the Jack Petchey Foundation and other social inclusion schemes. In 2023 she was appointed Senior Lead Judge for the RCS Senior Essay Prize and co-ordinated many tree plantings for the Platinum Jubilee, Queen’s Green Canopy and the Coronation.
