For over 150 years, the Royal Albert Hall has been fulfilling its vision of inspiring artists and audiences worldwide with the magic of the iconic place; creating life-enriching, unforgettable experiences for everyone. Hosting 390 events a year in the main auditorium and more than 800 in other smaller spaces, the Royal Albert Hall stands true to its original purpose of promoting the Arts and Sciences. As a charity, the Hall is dedicated to maintaining the Grade I listed building and giving access to all. This is a newly created role on the Executive Team.

 Responsible to the Chief Executive (CEO), the Director of Development will be responsible for the generation of all income relevant to philanthropy and other funding - separate to existing income sources and corporate support for the Royal Albert Hall.

 

The Director of Development will also manage a team of ten to secure funds and manage existing relationships as well as work closely with the CEO, Artistic Director (AD) and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 

Specifically, the Director of Development will form part of the senior management team of the Royal Albert Hall and manage the Philanthropy team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working with:

 

  • The CEO and the COO to set targets for philanthropic giving

  • The CEO on future strategy for individual giving

  • The CEO, COO and the Development Committee on creating and implementing new funding models

  • The AD to ensure that the giving targets align with the artistic and commercial goals for the Royal Albert Hall
